Nadir Nominated for Two Detroit Music Awards

Voting is underway for the 20th Annual Detroit Music Awards. Nadir earned two nominations in 2011 – for Outstanding Urban/Funk Songwriter and Outstanding Urban/Funk Group for Nadir and Distorted Soul. He will also receive recognition as a Special Honoree in the Urban/Funk Vocalist category after winning that DMA three years in a row, from 2008 to 2010.

The awards show will be held Friday, April 15 at The Fillmore Theatre Detroit, 2115 Woodward Avenue. Cast your vote Today at DetroitMusicAwards.net.

On Thursday, April 14, join Nadir and fellow nominee Eliza Neals for at celebratory toast a Detroit’s Hard Rock Cafe. Nadir kicks of the night with a solo funk set that you won’t want to miss.

Nadir Earns 2010 DMA for Outstanding Urban Funk Vocals

A very special thanks to the members of Detroit’s music community for voting Nadir Outstanding Urban Funk Vocalist at the 2010 Detroit Music Awards on April 16. The singer songwriter has earned the Outstanding Funk Vocal prize four of the last five years, and the last three in a row. This is his tenth DMA award.

The 1440′s Unofficial Detroit Music Award After Party is becoming a favorite post-awards show hang for musicians and music lovers because of the great people and amazing open jam session.

Live music started around 11pm and ended at 5am with a hearty breakfast at 6.

Jam session guests included Bobby Murray (guitarist for Etta James), Thornetta Davis, Karen Bosco, Aaron Brown of Lucky Brown, Djallo Djakate, Electric Otto, Khary WAE Frazier, Joey Spina, Anthony Womack, Phil Hale, and many others. Lightshow Bob rocked the Lightar!

It was off the charts!

2 Detroit Music Awards for Nadir & Distorted Soul

Nadir & Distorted Soul earned two trophies at the 2009 Detroit Music Awards on Friday, April 17.

Workin’ For The Man was named Outstanding Urban/Funk/Hip Hop Recording, and Nadir was honored as Outstanding Urban/Funk Vocalist.

Thanks to Akanke Rashad-Omowale, Nancy Schoenheide-Phares, all the members of the Distorted Soul band, all the musicians and producers who contributed their talents to the Workin’ For The Man project, all the djs and press who have given us so much love, and all the family and friends who helped make this project possible.

Oh… and a special shout out to George W. Bush, Dick Cheney and the entire Dubya administration for screwing up the world and inspiring much of the political material that appears on this record. Thanks A LOT!
